Wrentham Bowls Club (off Mill Lane NR34 7JQ)

The purpose of the club is to provide an outdoor bowling green and associated facilities for the village and the surrounding area. We actively encourage bowlers of all abilities and all ages – from beginners to experienced players, from youngsters through to senior citizens – and can provide tuition and coaching, if required. Playing bowls is an excellent and enjoyable form of gentle exercise and offers a good opportunity to make new friends.

Why not come and try your hand? Come along on a Tuesday morning and join our friendly “Roll Up” session at 9.45am. (Roll up is £2.00 for members and non-members). Please wear flat-soled shoes - there are bowls you can borrow.

Wrentham Bowls Club is currently looking for new members and would encourage anyone to come along, have a go, and hopefully join the club. The club is located in the centre of the village just off Mill Lane. We play competitively in local leagues at different levels, and of course for pleasure. This year the green opened on Sunday 26th April 2026 when our first drive of the season was played.

Our membership subscription is £50 for adult members; £10 for social members and £10 for juniors (under18).

News: July 2026

This small village football club is based in Wrentham Suffolk. We are an adult football club playing on the same field that has been the home of Wrentham Football Club since 1920. The last 10 years at the football club have been remarkable. We have WON three Lowestoft & District League championships, the CS Morley Cup and the Anglian Combination Division 4,3,2 and 1. We have played one season in the Anglian Combination premier division, finishing 3rd. We have been in the Suffolk Senior cup final at Portman road, the home of Ipswich Town. We have also been in the final of three Suffolk Junior Cup finals.

News:

The club had two teams until this coming season. The first team, many of them playing football together since the age of 7, have now completed their time at the club and most of them are now early thirties and have children of their own. They finished playing together at the home of Ipswich Town Football Club in the Suffolk Senior cup final v Halesworth Town. The club is now starting a new journey with what was our reserve side and they will now become the first team. They play their football in division 1 of the Lowestoft & District League.

We have over-achieved with the support of the village.

We have had huge support from the Parish Council and the Benacre estates charity in helping us update our clubhouse/changing rooms We have managed to obtain grants from the football foundation to maintain and improve the pitch, new fencing around the pitch, a new mower and a defib machine. The club has always managed within our means and this has been our policy from the beginning. Many clubs playing in lower leagues than ourselves pay players to play and some have wage bills in excess of £20,000.00. We still charge our players £5.00 to play. The first team managed to get to the highest level that our facilities would allow. To have gone on further we would have needed floodlights, a 150 seater stand and concrete surround to all 4 sides of the pitch along with turnstiles.
